Oak View achieves Silver Accreditation with Investors in People
Oak View Landscapes has been recognised for the way that it supports, develops and manages its staff with an internationally recognised accreditation from Investors in People (IIP).
The company has achieved Silver IIP Standard following a rigorous assessment process which looks at how businesses empower staff, recognise and reward good performance and deliver continuous improvement.
IIP expect the Silver Level to be awarded to the top five percentile of organisations assessed.
Oak View was congratulated for being “a successful and ambitious organisation that continues to outperform whilst focussing on quality provision and market leading services”.
Jakki Jenner, Operations Director, who led the project, said “we aspire to be a caring and market leading employer and this award is testament to this ambition. Over the past few years we have worked hard to embed our vision and values across the business. We had originally set ourselves the target of gaining Silver status by March 2017 and are delighted to have achieved this months in advance. But we are not a company to stand still, we now look forward to building on this success as we seek to progress up the accreditation ladder and next time we will be going for Gold”.
Managing Director, Paul Downer, commented ‘we are proud to have achieved the Silver Level from IIP. The Standard is constantly evolving with the assessment criteria becoming even tougher so this is true recognition of the commitment that Oak View Landscapes has to developing and training staff. IIP is the way we chose to measure the Company’s progress and bench mark our effectiveness in people management, staff development and ensuring that we keep pace with modern practices to ensure sustainable results.”

“BALI supports and inspires us, professional landscapers, garden designers, and our supply chain to be leaders of an environmentally, ethically and commercially sustainable landscape industry. I look forward to continuing working with our board of directors and our members to carry on delivering to the highest standards in our sector and to inspire current and future generations to be the best in what is a very exciting profession.”
Oak View Landscapes starts New Year in New Headquarters
Oak View Landscapes has relocated to purpose built headquarters on a commercial site owned by an associated company near Colchester, Essex.
Paul Downer, Managing Director commented “We are working to a three year growth strategy to expand the business by over 50% and the new facility is an essential part of our plan. I am delighted that we achieved our 30 week build programme on time and we are fully operational in this outstanding Essex Barn style building at the start of the New Year”.
General Manager, Matthew Selby said “We had out grown our current office facilities and it makes commercial sense to combine our operational yard and office facilities on one site at Pattens Yard in West Bergholt. We will benefit greatly from the planned purpose built headquarters in terms of daily operations and logistics.
The building was designed by local architects ADP and built by local trades and suppliers to meet Oak View’s environmental ethos and to support local and trade associated businesses. Oak View are very grateful to Johnsons of Whixley for kindly donating the trees and plants to the landscaped beds to the front of the building.
Oak View Landscapes – Magnificent Seven times BALI National Award Winners
Jakki Jenner Business Development Manager commented ‘Oak View Landscapes are extremely delighted to have received the Principal Award jointly with DeakinLock Garden Design, in the relatively new and very worthy category of BALI Register Contractor and Registered Designers Joint Submission (sponsored by Easigrass). As a landscape contractor we immensely value the relationships and strategic partnerships we have with our BALI registered garden designers and this award shows how key a close joint working relationship is between designer and contractor in delivering exceptional award winning schemes for our clients’.
Oak View were also winners in the prestigious Employer of the Year category making them 7 times BALI National Award winners.
Managing Director Paul Downer commented ‘Oak View Landscapes is growing as a business within a sector where there is an acute skills shortage and it has become even more important to invest in, retain and develop all staff for the future. We believe our staff are our greatest asset and we reward and recognise them wherever possible as without our staff and their dedication and loyalty we would not be one of the most respected landscape contractors in this region.
Oak View’s recent growth strategy has paid great dividends and the Company has grown over 50% in the last 2 years. Having out grown their current office facilities in West Bergholt, Colchester, they will shortly be moving to a newly constructed headquarters and operating centre on a commercial site owned by an associated company also in West Bergholt.
